Basically, there are two different types of airline credit cards that will you reward you for every dollar spent. The first type of airline credit card will earn you miles in a specific airline program and is geared towards those of us who tend to accumulate frequent flyer miles rather quickly. Business related travel and traveling to visit family in far away locations are prime examples. If you travel a lot, or like to travel in the premium section, this is probably the best option for you. Collecting miles from your purchases can be used to treat yourself to a well deserved vacation with a free airline ticket. These programs will usually give more airline mileage points for each of your dollars spent as long as the expenses were made with the same airline or one of their affiliate merchants. The second type of airline credit card earns rewards in the issuing bank’s program, typically in points, which can be used towards purchasing airline tickets or other goods and services. The advantage here is that you’re not limited to using a specific airline when you’re ready to redeem your reward points.
